Facilities and Programs ADA Assessment and Transition Plan

Project Overview

The Town of Morrisville is completing an assessment of our town-maintained facilities, programming, and digital environment to ensure they align with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. This work is being led by Direct Access, an accessibility consulting firm. The consultant will conduct an on-site assessment of Town facilities and parks, review how services are provided, and survey the community in order to develop a transition plan that identifies corrective actions for any accessibility barriers found.

Community Engagement Opportunities

The Town of Morrisville wants to hear from you! We are gathering community feedback about ADA accessibility in our Town facilities and parks, and your experiences are an important part of this process. As part of this effort, the Town and Direct Access will host a virtual public input session on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2026 from 6 – 7 p.m. The public input session will share an overview of the project’s goals, scope, and progress to date, then participants will have an opportunity to ask questions, learn more about the ADA assessment, and provide feedback on any accessibility concerns or experiences related to Town facilities, services, or digital platforms. You can register for the virtual input session at the registration button below.

Project Process

Background and Analysis

The consultant, Direct Access, will complete a comprehensive assessment of Town facilities, parks, and programs to identify any accessibility barriers. This assessment will include on-site evaluations of facilities and parks, interviews with staff to understand how programs and services are delivered, a review of digital media, and feedback gathered from the community. Residents may see the consultant assessing Town facilities and parks the week of June 22.

Public Input

The Town completed a public survey in August 2026 and hosted a virtual public input session in September 2026 to gather community input and feedback on ADA accessibility at our facilities and parks. Input from the survey and public input session will help us identify areas where accessibility can be improved, guide future priorities, and support the development of Morrisville's ADA Transition Plan.

Implementation

After assessing the facilities, parks, and programs, the consultant will compare the findings against ADA standards to develop a transition plan. The plan will prioritize the barriers and deficiencies identified and provide cost estimates for corrections. The Town will use this plan to budget for and implement improvements over time.
