Affordable Housing
Jump to:
The Town of Morrisville, in partnership with NeighborUp, offers housing assistance programs to support local workers and families in maintaining stable, affordable housing within our community. This pilot initiative promotes housing stability for public-sector and moderate-income workers who serve Morrisville by helping them secure and maintain safe, affordable rental housing within the town. The pilot programs will operate through June 30, 2028, with annual funding allocations. Program continuation will be based on program performance and resource availability.
Rental Assistance Program
The Rental Assistance Program provides monthly financial support to eligible households whose housing costs exceed an affordable portion of their income and who live in Morrisville. Assistance is intended to help prevent housing instability and allow residents to remain safely housed while working toward long-term stability.
Income Requirement:
Household income must be at or below 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI) for the applicable household size.
Program features include:
- Monthly rent subsidies paid directly to the landlord or property management company
- Assistance amounts based on household income and housing costs
- Assistance may be time-limited and subject to renewal eligibility
- No repayment required
Security Deposit Assistance Program
The Security Deposit Assistance Program provides one-time financial assistance to help eligible households secure a rental unit by covering all or part of the required security deposit.
Income Requirement:
Household income must be at or below 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI) for the applicable household size.
Location Requirement:
Security deposit assistance is available only for rental housing located within the Town of Morrisville.
Program features include:
- One-time assistance toward a security deposit
- Payment made directly to the landlord or property management company
- Designed to help households move into safe, stable housing in Morrisville
Eligibility Overview
Eligibility for both programs is based on household income and size and other criteria established by the Town of Morrisville.
This Pilot Program is only available to Town of Morrisville employees, Wake County Public Service employees, and Wake County Public School System employees that work in Morrisville schools. All applicants must currently reside in Morrisville or be willing to move to Morrisville.
Because funding is limited, not all eligible applicants will receive assistance. Eligible applications will be prioritized based on program priorities and selected through a weighted lottery process administered by NeighborUp.
