Airport Boulevard Extension, Phase 1
Led by NCDOT, the contractor has completed the box culvert located east of Garden Square Lane, and blasting between Town Hall Drive and Church Street has also been completed.
The contractor began utility work on Tuesday, Aug. 11, which will require lane closures on Town Hall Drive. As this work progresses, sidewalk access in the area will be adjusted. The left-side sidewalk closure (non-school side) will occur first, followed by the right-side sidewalk closure in the coming weeks. When the right-side sidewalk (school side) is closed, an additional crossing guard and Morrisville Police Department presence will be provided.
Note: NCDOT is responsible for managing the highway project and providing verified information about construction, traffic control, and the project schedule. In partnership with the Town of Morrisville, NCDOT will coordinate project updates. School transportation and campus operating information will come from the school or school system. The agencies are coordinating so residents receive consistent and timely updates. Cedar Fork Elementary School Field Construction
Wake County Public School System will soon commence construction work on building new tennis courts and recreational fields on the open field next to Cedar Fork Elementary School. This work is anticipated to start in early to mid-August and visitors will see construction equipment and construction fencing being mobilized in the fields next to the school.
Twenty parking spaces at Cedar Fork Community Center will be fenced off due to construction. The remainder of the Cedar Fork Community Center Parking Lot will remain open.
Traffic adjustments and temporary lane closures will be announced in advance as they come up on the Town website to help mitigate disruptions to drivers.
Upcoming McCrimmon Parkway Delays
Duke Energy and their contractors will be working along McCrimmon Parkway starting the week of July 6. This includes underground boring (installing pipes, conduits, and cables below ground) as well as some overhead work. You may see traffic control in the area. This could include flaggers and temporary lane closures, but crews will try to keep most work off the roadway to reduce traffic delays.
If traffic control is needed:
-
Flaggers may be present on McCrimmon Parkway between Church Street and Chapel Hill Road.
-
Lane closures, if required, would only affect the westbound lanes of McCrimmon Parkway between Church Street and Davis Drive.
Estimated completion: 6-8 months
