Household Hazardous Waste Disposal

Due to their caustic properties and their potential for environmental contamination, household hazardous waste materials must be properly disposed of by a certified Household Hazardous Waste contractor. Therefore, household hazardous waste materials are not collected by the Town of Morrisville.

Accepted household hazardous waste materials include:

• Automobile fluids and antifreeze
• Batteries
• Cooking oil and motor oil
• Fire extinguishers (dry chemical)
• Fluorescent light bulbs
• Fuel oil, lighter fluid, and kerosene
• Household cleaners and chemicals
• Mercury thermometers
• Paints, lacquers, and polishes
• Pesticides and herbicides poisons
• Photographic chemicals
• Propane tanks
• Solvents, thinners, and wood preservatives

Unaccepted household hazardous waste materials include:

• Ammunition
• Commercially generated waste
• Explosives and shock-sensitive items
• Hypodermic needles and syringes
• Medical waste
• Radioactive materials
• Smoke detectors
• Trash and recyclables
• Unknown materials

Medical Waste Removal

Infectious waste and untreated, regulated medical waste cannot, by law, be disposed of in sanitary landfills. Commercial companies are available for hire that can properly dispose of this waste.
