Annual Poster Contest
Theme for 2026 'Clean Streets = Clean Streams'
The Morrisville Environment and Stormwater Committee (MESC), a resident advisory group, invites you to participate in the 21st Annual Student Art Poster Contest. The goal is to decrease environmental impacts by promoting behaviors that support the protection of our natural resources through public education and increased awareness.
Posters should include benefits of caring for our watershed including conserving water, reducing pollution such as pet waste, washing items over grass instead of pavement, and planting native plants and trees to improve filtration. Please find links to Clean Water Education Partnership (CWEP) resources on watersheds, stormwater pollution and PBS’ Follow the Water Plum Landing. We also encourage you to visit the Morrisville Community Library for books and resources on this topic.

The grand prize winner will receive a prize package and the 1st place winners for each grade level will be recognized at a Town Council meeting. Individual winners placing 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each grade will also receive an award certificate, ribbon, and a special gift bag.

Winners have been selected for the 20th Annual Student Art Poster Contest! Please find a presentation with all winners from the grand prize (Annalisa D.) thru 3rd place for each grade here.(PDF, 2MB) Thank you for the creativity displayed by our kindergarteners through fifth graders! We were SO impressed!
Also, a huge thanks to the educators and organization leaders who shared this opportunity with students and encouraged them to learn about
composting. Keeping our food waste out of the landfills helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions, keeps our landfills in service longer, and provides compost to help our farmers to grow nourishing crops. The Town has 3 community carts from which to bring food waste (for the purpose of composting). Please visit our Public Works Recycling page for details on this resource.
The grand prize winner's poster will hang on Town Hall Drive after the holidays. They will also receive a Georgina's gift certificate, a family annual pass to the Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh, and the free use of a Morrisville shelter. All first, second, and third place winners receive a gift bag and a certificate from the Mayor!
