Airport Blvd. Extension Notice

  • Dates: March 30 - April 3
  • As part of the Airport Boulevard Extension project managed by the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), the contractor, Carolina Sunrock will install construction signs and orange fencing to protect environmentally sensitive areas and place erosion control measures where Town Hall Drive and Church Street will intersect the new Airport Boulevard roadway.
  • Drivers should watch for construction traffic and temporary lane closures.

Town Center Temporary Street Closure

  • Dates: April 1-3
  • The Town Center contractor will temporarily close portions of Town Hall Drive and Carolina Street from April 1 through April 3 to begin installing new utilities that will support the future Town Center development. Drivers should expect detours in the area and allow extra travel time.
  • Starting April 1, the right‑turn slip lane from Town Hall Drive onto Carolina Street will close permanently. (The slip lane is the right-hand lane heading northwest bound as you approach the roundabout on Town Hall Drive and Carolina that allows you to bypass the roundabout altogether and head northeast on Carolina Street.) This marks the beginning of demolition work to prepare the intersection for future improvements.
  • Starting April 4, drivers can still turn from Town Hall toward Carolina Street (northwest to northeast), but they’ll have to go through the roundabout instead of bypassing it. This change matches how traffic moves on the other sides of the intersection and will help slow speeds in the Town Center area.
  • Morrisville Community Library visitors will need to park in the new lot at Carolina Street and Foxglove Drive and walk along a marked route to the library entrance. Signs will guide people to and from the lot.
