The National Civic League recently announced its 2026 All-America City (AAC) Award finalists. Among the list of 20 distinguished national communities was Morrisville, North Carolina. As the nation marks 250 years since its founding, the 2026 AAC Award is recognizing communities that are bringing the ideal of a government of, by, and for the people to life. This year's AAC theme is “America at 250: Strengthening Civic Health and Building Trust," which allows finalists to highlight impactful initiatives and programs within their communities. Finalists were selected through a rigorous application process, with an external review committee carefully assessing each community across six criteria. "Morrisville has been named one of 20 finalists for the 2026 All-America City Award, an honor we’re proud to receive," said Morrisville Mayor TJ Cawley. "I’m incredibly proud of our staff, our elected leaders and our residents, who work every day to build a community that is truly connected." "In response to our wonderfully diverse population, we’ve been intentional about creating opportunities to gather, celebrate and learn from one another. When something matters to some of our residents, we show up alongside them because their traditions and cultures enrich all of us. In Morrisville, we truly live connected and live well." Finalists will now begin preparing for the next stage of the competition when written presentations will spring to life during the AAC Event in Denver, Colorado in June. In addition to finalist presentations to the jury, the event will include workshops, panel discussions, and peer learning sessions led by national thought leaders and practitioners. The award, typically given to 10 communities each year, celebrates and recognizes neighborhoods, villages, towns, cities, counties, tribes and regions that engage residents in innovative, inclusive and effective efforts to tackle critical challenges. Morrisville, a prior 2021 AAC Award recipient, was the only finalist selected from North Carolina. The 2021 theme was "Building Equitable and Resilient Communities."
