Morrisville Council Member Satish Garimella has been elected first vice president of the North Carolina League of Municipalities (NCLM), joining the executive leadership team that will guide the organization over the next year. Garimella was sworn in May 7 by Lt. Gov. Rachel Hunt during CityVision, the League’s annual conference held in Raleigh.
Garimella’s appointment places Morrisville in a key leadership role within the League, which represents municipalities from across the state. As first vice president, Garimella will help set priorities and collaborate with local elected officials to advance issues affecting cities and towns of all sizes. He joins newly sworn‑in NCLM President Jody McLeod, mayor of Clayton, and Second Vice President Ann Schneider of Oak Ridge.
Garimella’s role as first vice president positions Morrisville to contribute directly to NCLM's efforts to emphasize collaboration among North Carolina's cities and towns. He will work alongside fellow officers and an expanded board of directors elected during the conference, representing districts and at‑large positions throughout North Carolina. The board includes municipal leaders from communities such as Ahoskie, Wallace, Tarboro, Monroe, Granite Quarry, Blowing Rock, Franklin, Charlotte, Durham, Ocean Isle Beach, Shelby and Kill Devil Hills.
For more than a century, NCLM has served as the unified voice of cities and towns, helping communities improve the quality of life for residents across the state. Garimella’s leadership role continues Morrisville’s engagement in that mission and strengthens the town’s presence in statewide conversations about local government needs and priorities.
